Canyonlands Field Institute

CFI's ED-Ventures have evolved from our many years of designing and leading eco-backcountry trips in canyon country: Raft, hike or explore by vehicle tour from a lovely lodge or a remote base camp. We also offer Nature Hikes and Van Tours for Adults and Families. Enjoy Eco-Hikes with CFI Naturalist-Guides who can adjust the day to your interests and physical abilities. Visit Arches or Canyonlands National Parks, or various Colorado River side canyons with sandstone wonders and lush stream life, mountain views and wildflowers. You'll know more about canyon country when your day is done! Adult/family Ed Ventures can be found here: http://www.canyonlandsfieldinst.org/edventure/3edventure.html

And because our guides are teachers, we're great with kids! CFI has hosted hundreds of school groups from all over the country. Our multi-day programs are aimed at middle and high school as well as college groups, while day trips work for all ages (6 years and older). One to six-day field camp and river rafting programs take students away from their busy worlds and into a collaborative relationship with each other and their surroundings. Programs are available April through June and August through October. See our offerings at:

CFI also offers Wilderness Advanced First Aid, WFR/WAFA Recert, River Rescue, and River Skills courses for tour guides, rangers, back-country guides, outdoor educators and other professionals who work outdoors. Check our web site for more information on classes! http://www.canyonlandsfieldinst.org/guides/3guides.html

We have field camps at breathtaking Professor Valley, 20 miles from Moab and in the nearby La Sal Mountains. The camps are under lease on public lands. Adult and student participants venture into Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Natural Bridges and Hovenweep National Monuments; local wilderness study areas; the Manti-LaSal and San Juan National Forests; Monument Valley, Navajo Mountain and Rainbow Bridge; Cedar Mesa and Escalante/Lake Powell; Range Creek Wildlife Management Area.

River study programs are conducted on the Colorado, Green, San Juan and Dolores Rivers, and on the Navajo, Hopi, and Ute Indian reservations. Special workshops and symposia for adults are located at residential sites throughout the region.

Your program and tour fees help to support our outdoor school group programs.

CFI is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit experiential education program.
